Here's something wierd. dustin 2004-10-01 20:12:00

If I want to refer to a given person's mother and father with a single word, I'd use the word "parents", to refer to the person's grandmother and grandfather I'd use the term "Grandparents". The person's brothers and sisters: "siblings". What would be an equivalent term to refer to a person's aunt and uncle?

Also, why do so many relative words carry connotations of the gender. e.g. "mother" "father" "uncle" "aunt" "grandmother". But There is no simlar word for "cousin". If I just say cousin, it could be a male or female cousin.

Weird.
