An urban camp out may be much cooler, but it doesn't connect with the American public. The guy eating at Micky D's connects with all the lazy fat slobs of the United States. Since there seems to be a large percentage of Americans who, instead of taking responsiblity for their own actions, want to blame the fast food industry for the obesity of the US, a movie about a guy getting fat off Micky D's is a good marketing move. If you made a movie about fitness and work out to the point of death then you'd be famous.
